THE LINE MIAMI in partnership with Expanded (exdraw p) @exdrawp is presenting the exhibit DENSITY/SCARCITY. This show launched on @spatial_io focuses on contemporary drawing practices.
Statement:
Marks accumulate and dissipate across a surface. The eye gets caught up in a mass and then meanders off into the open space of the page. DENSITY SCARCITY is an exhibit that explores contrasts. The artists showcased each use drawing as a means to explore larger conceptual frameworks. In each of their works, marks are drawn over time in response to ideas or actions, resulting in distinct, often linear or tonal, compositions. DENSITY SCARCITY questions what happens inside the mind and body as it encounters fluctuations in the space viewed in front of it. It asks what can determine a composition, from imagined systems to the acts of walking and cleaning. Lastly, it celebrates the medium of drawing a responsive entity that connects intimately to the artist’s thoughts and hand.
