Expanded Launches The Lichen Project

Expanded is interested in broadening the ways to see and experience drawing. In keeping with this goal, two like minded artists are invited to work together and experiment. This project uses the lichen plant’s growth process as a metaphor for working collaboratively.  The main idea is to see what will happen in a drawing when two artists join forces.

Lichens are made of two plants, the fungus and the photobiot. These entities live together in a symbiotic relationship.  Lichens are site specific, flowerless plants forming where water borders land, trees, or rocks.  Like the plant, the drawings created in this project will be interdependent between contributors. Most likely, they will grow in virtual space. Results will be posted.
